Grasshopper Dreams

Slight snicking click of grasshoppers,
moving amidst summer’s tall weeds,
might create disturbing itch
at inner ear, unable to be relieved.

Somewhat like single dream image
screaming with meaning, cast away,
forever lost, in clearing haze
of bright morning’s awakening.

This has great music. I like how you describe the noise of grasshoppers as a “disturbing itch / at inner ear” and the morning light as a “clearing haze” against a dream.

I’m not sure that you’ll ever see this comment as everything I post is swallowed as spam, but I really love this poem, Elizabeth.
