Grasshopper Dreams II

For Miz Quickly’s Impossible Missions: use same five words, different piece

Grasshopper Dreams II

Relieved to be off their feet,
five women dressed in green,
gather tightly round small table. Slight
sighs might be heard by passing strangers.

Casting off cares that would disturb
intended celebration, with clear focus,
each member of group claims single straw,
unwrapping it with a soft snicking click.

Then, dipping it into frothy concoction,
they laughingly begin to sip.
Secretly call themselves
“The Grasshopper Shoppers.”

Notes: Miz Q gave us a choice to use one of five word lists each day, or to use the same list daily to create five different pieces. Guess I’m going with the same words.

I love green and could use a gathering of nature to inspire my muse!

  4. Elizabeth, you had some smart wordplay in this one – saw your link at Sherry’s site and was so pleased to read this one. “Soft snicking click,” perfect onomatopoeic choice. And the Grasshopper Shoppers, all in green, how sweet, that image! Wish I was there. Amy

Like Amy…I’m wishing I had my own straw to join them…
I like the color green. And the enjoyment of these ‘Grasshopper Shoppers’ shines through!
