Okay, it’s official. Today I am old.
No longer bold or the first
to be chosen, even for Scrabble.
Forgive me if I babble and don’t
make a lot of sense. Pretense
doesn’t come easy for one like me.
I was hoping to find a quote that
would allow me to accept, this
new reality. But par for the course,
All the good ones are written
by folks so much younger
than me. People who don’t
know about living a life long
and well. Filled with ups and downs
wearing smiles to hide the frowns.
Sometimes falling down but always
getting up again, no matter how
long that might take.
Being willing to forgive, but not
forget, and always willing
to admit to one”s mistakes.
Giving and taking a break when
needed, always heeding one’s
own heartbeat.
Because no one ever knows
just how long this one life
will be given.

Now I’ll officially say Happy Birthday, Elizabeth. 🙂

The upside of our age is we’re still here. Smiles. And what a TON of material we have for writing! I hope this is the year we both finish our long-talked-about memoirs! Have the most wonderful day, my friend.

My poetic memoir is finally finished. Now I have to decide if I really want to try an Editor. And that’s not an easy choice or decision. Thanks for being such a loyal friend.
