Surprised by this re-ignition
of fire within head, heart,
and belly, she pauses
for a moment.
Hears cackle of laughter
from her old woman’s lips
as she watches tendrils of smoke
rise up to surround her.
Thinks about that old saying
of how youth is wasted
on the young, knowing true wisdom
only comes from experience
and age.

I am enjoying the re-ignition, and love the cackle, needless to say. My dad used to say that saying all the time. I have come to understand he was so right.
