Not Your Routine Poet
Owns a rather gutsy type of pluck.
Not gathered, rather grasped deep
inside body by invisible flow
within blood stream. Mile long
list of breath lines,
each one ringed round with truth.
Elizabeth Crawford 2/9/14
Notes: Did what I usually do, copied and pasted the list of words from The Sunday Whirl FB page late Friday evening. The first line here, fell into place as several of the words reached to partner one another. And then all movement stopped. Saturday morning, went back to the words, trying to patch in what was left. Did so, and had a vague image of where it might be going. Let my daughter read it and tell me what she thought it was saying. She kept using the word writing to clarify herself, even though there was no mention of that in what I had cobbled together. After she left, I turned back to what I had, changed it to more readily capture the image she had created and the rest of it all fell into place. Gotta love it when our guardian angels speak from familiar faces. After finishing the poem, went off to play elsewhere and the words to a song kept interfering. Couldn’t quite place the song or the songstress so once again asked my daughter and after repeating the one line I could remember, she gave me the title and the name of the singer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zpYFAzhAZY
On my way to that video, found another in which the singer explained how the song came to be written. I related strongly, both to the song and to her explanation.

The image is beautiful, Elizabeth. I love it very much. Love your catchy title, which grabbed me right away….and the poem and its message……I have been re-reading our Soul Card Journey back in 2011 – THAT was a trip, was it not? Ready for another?

I especially like the words “gutsy type of pluck.” I kind of think those words fit YOU! And I love the last line…as I really believe that poetry / writing should be “ringed round with truth.”

Your poem resonated with me, stressing as it does the sheer effort involved in writing poetry. I like that your daughter was such a help.

Funny how sometimes things fall into place and other times they circle around like lost sheep!

There are some beautiful word associations in this. How we all need that invisible flow of creativity to pour out!

A lovely poem and the description of the process belied the sense that it simply flowed all of a piece complete and onto the screen. 🙂

it def takes a bit of guts to speak the truth as there are plenty who dont want to hear it…its too uncomfortable

This group of words were a ‘trouble’ for me. I wrote a piece on Saturday, thinking I would come back to it? When I did it had disappeared, left no trace. Returned this morning, still no inspiration, so I wrote about inspiration. Must be Mercury in Retrograde?

Speaking the truth is hard for many folk, Elizabeth. Nicely done and words fell into place perfectly.
Things are worse here. I am scared.
