These words, smoked in grammar
and syntax, should make sense, form
a poem using metaphor and balance
that captures both eye and feelings.

Instead, they miss that track, fall flat
of profitable power and swing toward
only the ordinary. Leak bits of crystal
clarity like shattered shards that cut

away meaning, sawed into gibberish by
would be poet, always searching ahead
for solid path that leads toward far away
sacred Temple of Truth and Beauty.

Notes: Haven’t been here for a while. Dealing with medical issues and computer problems. But, this week the words seemed to leap at me, saying it was time to return. I did, but had a lot of thoughts about why and how, and those thoughts obviously crept into this writing. But I did find satisfaction in using all of the words.

A poem will make its own way, and say what it needs to say. I love this, Elisabeth. I hope your medical issues clear up fast.

  6. I find that poem spills out without a thought and form when i write them… sometimes starting just with words is the best way to form a thought

Getting all these words to fit together as beautifully as you did is no small feat! I love the delicate feel of this, and the truth of the struggle to create something both beautiful and true.

We all seek that solid path that leads to truth and beauty, but why is so difficult to find, and stick to it?

The same seems Hank’s experience. A poem will lead one towards its own progress. It naturally flows along and hey, presto! A poem stares at oneself eventually!
