November PAD Challenge Day 18: write an “it’s too late” poem http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/poetic-asides/poetry-prompts/2011-november-pad-chapbook-challenge-day-18

Too Late?

Have heard it said
that it’s never too late
for anything. Figure
whoever said that
must have been of age
when body was still
willing to comply
with whatever desire
might fly, or come to rest
in nest of inner being.

Had still to learn
that bubbles do burst,
and birds must spend time
perched in unfamiliar,
sometimes aging, branches.

Yes, some things it may be too late to do indeed. But I like to think that there are some things it is NOT too late for, and we have to find those things.

If I didn’t know better, Elizabeth, I’d say this wonderful image is from a kaleidoscope? What a coincidence that only last night I posted a piece that is about a kaliedoscope. I love the phrase, “better late than never” and feel it is very true. Well done!

  4. Elizabeth, the last stanza is simply gorgeous. I love all the pieces you are submitting for PAD. I am having a difficult time keeping up myself. However, I am still plugging along.
