Cloaked Reality
She escapes cruel prison
of everyday existence
through magical lens
of imagination.
Becoming whatever she chooses:
a fleet huntress, like Diana,
in pursuit of wild prey;
a wanton woman
with enough cash
to satisfy any whim;
a young girl named Venus,
dressed in blue denim skirt,
denuding a small patch of daisies.
Good gift for a beloved parent.
Still knows difference
between what is real
and what is not.
Suspects that what is not
is what keeps her
breathing.

I want that lens of hers! At my age all girls are Venus. How right you are about imagination. As writers it is essential but what we write is not a mirror of ourselves at all.

So potent. I wonder what she would become if she finally got those things. Or if she would even leap if given the chance. I don’t subscribe to it, but often the dream is chosen over the reality.

Where would we be without our imagination? Reality is fine, but it is good that we sometimes have an effective means of escaping. Smiles!! I’m all for using imagination as much as possible.
