A Brief Word of Caution

Do not make haste to finish the quest. There is always time
to rest, later. Hurrying now may make nothing but waste
of the entire journey. For in that need to rush ahead,
one might miss that very spark that will keep the fire burning.

That breath of freshness that brings more light into deepest night
and the necessary warmth so needed within the wish to continue.
One must always remember that somewhere out there is someone
who needs that quickening spark that only you might bring.

And that doesn’t mean that you will ever meet them, or greet them
with the embrace of familiarity. It might happen in an unknowing moment
of passing. A stranger might overhear some remark you make to another,
but it becomes the spark they unknowingly needed to begin to build their own

fire within.

Note: Image is one of my own designs created years ago. And refused to color because 1. it looked like too much work, and 2. I had no idea what to do with it. Red has never been a favorite of mine so I was surprised when I decided to see just how many permutations of it that I could find in my color box. More than I had ever imagined. Once finished, however, it quickly became a favorite because it brings a smile every time I remember what happened when I went where I didn’t really want to go.

I love this! Especially “One must always remember that somewhere out there is someone
who needs that quickening spark that only you might bring.” Which may be what keeps me writing and posting my poems.

Thank you Sherry for really getting the message. And like you, it is also the reason I continue to do all of the things I do: the writing, doodle sketching, playing with the kaleidoscope app, and yes, even the coloring. So glad we are taking this journey together.

Thanks for writing this…it’s something I needed to “hear.” Sometimes—a lot of times—I feel as if I am no use to anyone, but this got me thinking. I know that there have been times in my life someone has had a positive impact on me, and never knew. Perhaps, I have done the same. Thanks, Elizabeth.

You are more than welcome, KT. And you did do something today that touched another. That would be me. This daily poem adventure is never an easy undertaking, and it can be both daunting and exhausting. Something I’m sure you already know. It is beyond wonderful to have someone I respect come here and say ‘thank you’. It lifts the heart and soul. So, thank you as well.
