The Quest

What is a quest? It is a journey
which begins at birth and lasts for an entire life.
Might be filled with strife, or rife
with a love of learning.

It is that inward burning to know everything. Turning
of the clock makes little difference to determination as one
seeks answers to questions perhaps not even asked
until now.

Yet somehow, the seeking becomes the journey
and like the knights of old, one must be bold
enough to leave the comfort of Normal, joining in
this constant quest for health and wholeness.

Note: This is where the music comes into my personal picture. I was struggling this morning with several things, including what to post here. But, a song came to mind about the subject I was attempting to write about. By Gordon Lightfoot, the song is an old favorite and speaks to the issue of this constant questing, many of us do. It can be found on Utube Musical Videos and goes by the title of Don Quixote. Hope you enjoy. The image is a photograph, taken by me in my sister’s garden. It has always spoken to me of individuality and its quest for wholeness.

A beautiful photo and poem, my friend. This morning I have been outside admiring the spring blossoms. Still figuring out what to write. I love your line about the seeking becoming the journey. We start out not knowing what we are looking for – until it finds us, or we stumble upon it. Smiles.

That is so true, my friend. There is far more stumbling than a straight as an arrow path might suggest. But there is so much to be learned in those stumbles, like what not to do next time, lol. I’ll make a suggestion: Start with a question. You might just find an answer?

For me, the journey is my life…Lord knows if I’ll find what I seek, but it would help if I knew what I was searching for.
    Wonderful poem, Elizabeth. 💙
