In Bonfire Light

NaPoWriMo 2019 – Day 2

In Bonfire Light

Four of us sit around bonfire lit
in hopes of chasing away night’s chill
from bones no longer filled
with vigor of youth’s unruly

Each woman turned inward musing
on this journey we have chosen
to make in hopes of taking
back what seems to have somehow
gone missing.

Perhaps forgetting that the number four
is a solid base, owning a face
not readily tipped or overturned.
But also represents basic, most sacred

Elizabeth Crawford 4/2/2019

Notes: These are the directions, their color and meanings.

East – yellow gold of sunrise and spirit
South – past and red of childhood’s creative fire
West – Future, black with unknowing
North – Blue with knowledge and wisdom

Image is from the kaleidoscope app. I chose it because it contains the four colors mentioned. But when mixed together in proper proportions they make the color purple which symbolizes personal power.

I love this, Elizabeth, and am so happy to be writing with you.

As I am with you, Brenda. Love your “teacher lady”. Am reminded of why I never taught children (had enough of that at home). Here’s to another day and the next.

  2. I love musing beside a bonfire. I don’t do it often enough! Lovely to be reading you, my friend.

Feel the same way, my friend. It’s been way too long, so I write about it and dream…

Elizabeth: I’ve read your poem several times, and each time I do, the “four of us” you mention screams: Yes! It’s B, P, you and me, as we begin our latest NaPo journey! “The number four is a solid base,” is so true for me, as we support and encourage each other along the way. Well done!

Marianne, that’s because it is the four of us. I like writing about the journey and we are on it together. Glad you enjoyed,

What a wonderful poem about our napo journey together. Glad to be writing with you and the ladies!

I certainly feel the same, Pamela. Have no idea where this is going, just doing day by day. Feeling my way, as usual. Thanks for the visit,
