Bonfire Lights
Sparks fly upward
dance in darkness
for one moment.
Then drift downward
on evening breeze
becoming only ash
to be swept aside.
But in that one moment
they burn with desire
to be one
with their distant sisters
the stars.

Love that image of the sparks wanting to unite with their sibling stars! In a way we are all yearning to become one with the universe…

You’ve captured the wonder of a bonfire, especially in the lines:
‘they burn with desire
to be one
with their distant sisters
the stars’.

in that moment….lovely thoughts on a bonfire. I haven’t seen one since I was a child at summer camp.

And for that one moment, to burn with such intensity…yeah some people would consider that worth the eventuality of becoming easily brushed aside ash.

Powerful image! That burst of life before dying may be what it’s all about. We have sister spirits up there.
