In Present Moments
No longer limber enough to walk
shoreline. Sigh at my inability to toss
a pebble into cold morning mist, or hear
the chime of it‘s landing on ground or water.
Try my best not to pine about what is past,
instead, see it as a signal to mimic the sky,
revealing it’s reality in an ever-changing
panoramic of simply being in present moments.
Elizabeth Crawford 10/29/2017
Notes: Haven’t been writing much for several months. Thought I’d try again, so kept it short and simple. Image is an old photograph that mirrors my present being about the world around me.
Love that the sky encourages you to enjoy each moment… so glad you’re writing again.

Yes, I’m feeling my physical limitations too. Living for the present moment is a blessing that we find too late in life, I think.

I could paraphrase, inelegantly, all that you say: “It sucks to grow old.” At least, when the body fails us.

I love the way you describe not being able to throw the stone and listen for it’s chime. The melancholy is palpable.

It definitely is with sadness that we reflect on the losses of what we once had. Hard not to be able to experience the SAME joys. Hopefully we find other replacement joys & keep our hopes alive! Nice reading your words again, Elizabeth.

I identify. Accepting the limitations of age is a difficult task. Fortunately, there are other avenues yet to be explored and enjoyed.

Welcome back Elizabeth. At least writing doesn’t require us to run or even walk well. I too have been absent for a few weeks and only now returning tentatively, searching for that elusive muse that must be hiding somewhere!

Most appropriate not to be saddled with past events but face the present with all the strength of character. Good stand to take Elizabeth!
