Giving Birth
Have given birth
to four children.
Two of them
like me,
two of them
don’t.
Have given birth
to hundreds of poems.
Some of them
I like,
others
I don’t.
Are children
like poems?
Some of them
might be,
others
won’t.
Giving birth
is all about
learning how
to let go.

Wow! I think a poet has equally to learn to let go and let it fly! This poem has a magical symmetry that probably hides the bumpy ride of being a mother–I wouldn’t know. But the poet part, well, if it’s like that, the journey should not be taken lightly.

WOW! I think that is the lesson parenthood taught me the most – how to let go. To be there, stay strong, hang onto my own centre through my kids’ whirlwind ups and downs, but, in the end, how determined they were to follow their own path. Love the comparison of poems and offspring………..
