April PAD Challenge: Day 17

Although I have been using words and lines from other poets and writers, they are certainly not the only place where I find inspiration. Music was integral from early on and still is, as well as my flirtations with images, both kaleidoscope and pen and ink drawing.

Star Dust

This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine…

They say we are but star dust,
fallen through darkness
of midnight blue heavens.

Once bright bits of light
smothered in darkness
just beyond those gates.

Buried deep in soul,
begging to be touched,
rearranged to make wholeness.

Must reach deep within,
gather that tinder, breathe softly
until it ignites into flame.

Then do whatever needs to be
done to keep it burning always,
reaching out to others

in need of its healing warmth.

Notes: This little light of mine, was one of the first gospel songs I learned as a young child. Even now, when I hear it, I can’t resist singing along.

Image is a kaleidoscope image made from a sunset photo.
