My Wish For 2017
In early morning mist,
tired traveler
missteps, stumbles
to her knees.
From the dawn’s
darkness,
a hand reaches out,
to help her
to her feet.
Later,
she comes upon
unknown child
shivering in a corner.
Unfolds her old
extra blanket,
gently covering
his shoulders.
Passing on
one kindness
for
another.

Notes: This is the last of the daily prompts for the Creativity Challenge. It has been quite an experience, creating 80 posts in 40 days. But, definitely worth the effort. Thanks to all who participated and hope to see you on the other side of the New Year. What have I learned from all of this? It’s here in this post. One act of kindness can have a tremendous affect on our world. May it always be so.

Oh now THIS is a hopeful and positive message. I wish I had written it, but my spirit is weary. You are right though, it is those acts of kindness that mean everything. I had such a moment in the city. I handed five bucks to a homeless man and out from under the blanket came this beautiful big black dog. His eyes were fastened on my hand. He was hungry, hoping for food. I am sure the man shares with his dog, and he needs his dog for a source of love and comfort. But it hurts me to see cold and hungry dogs. They do not have the choices or access to services that humans do. I wanted to give him a bag of kibble. But all I could do was wish them well and walk away.

Your act of kindness proves that even a weary spirit responds to the needs of those around it. I just had a bit of confrontation with two family members. I didn’t get angry, just responded with facts they seemed unaware of. They choose not to know, and there is nothing I can do about that, except pray. And I choose to believe that prayer is another act of kindness.

Passing on one kindness
for another.
Yes, there are lots of distractions around the far corners of the world. One can only do within one’s ability and means to impact on some deprived souls. Thank you so much for your daily prompts Elizabeth. Hank missed a few of the early ones. It had been an enjoyable experience. Happy New Year and looking forward to fine company again in 2017!
