For Creativity Challenge Day 20: Water

Metaphorical Mapping
If the human body
was flat, seen as a map,
it would appear
as a small island
fed by a concourse
of red rivers.
Constantly moving,
flowing from one
junction to another.
Sometimes pooling,
like small lakes,
but forever flowing,
as it feeds and refreshes
whatever surrounds it.
Bringing blood, water
of life, to the whole,
with slow lapping echo
of its constantly pumping
heartbeat.
Reminding us that we
may not be the apex
of creation, but only
a small replica of a much
greater design.

Now this is a thought-provoking poem. One rarely thinks of the rivers running within, as life-giving as the rivers on our landscape, carrying precious life-giving waters to us all. Wonderful, Elizabeth!
