To Find Meaning

Words, random letters
marching across page,
yet giving definition
to thought/feeling for
both reader and writer.

Colors, stroked over
canvas of choice,
yet speaking to heart
and soul of their
beholder.

Myth, telling story
of what we humans
were and that which
each of us might
become.

These are the things
which hold meaning
for me. Yes, there are
others, family, friends,
sunlight and shadow.

Waves of the sea breaking
at shoreline. The gifts
of earth and her wild
creatures. The touch
of a loving hand.

But, it is those first
three that bring
true value to the rest,
give deepest meaning
to all those others.

Elizabeth Crawford 11/25/2016

Notes: Joseph Campbell tells us that our true purpose is to find and follow our bliss. In doing so, we deepen the meaning of all life. Our own and that around us.

Being able to put words to life and experiences – yes, that deepens, enriches and gives meaning to all the rest. Love this one, Elizabeth.
