Far Fetched Tale

Just beyond screen
at entry way, flowers
hung above a pond
of bright orange fish,
where bewildered evangelists,
dressed in white worsted,
wrestled over blessed angel
(a former gymnast fleeced
beneath a waxing moon,
by a less than whole cloth
tale. Taken advantage of
by a cunning poet, touched
in the head, but burning
with fervor to be last
of her kind, so made it all
up and then blamed the words).

Elizabeth Crawford  5 /15/16

Notes: Personally, although I did use all of them, I think the words were tippling before they finally showed up.

It is not me it’s the words! What with bewildered evangelists and cunning poets burning with fervor it sounds as though they have been at the bottle!

Just how influential is a good writer to be able create a fervor on others with their writings. Beautiful take Elizabeth!

I think those words were definitely rooted – how seamless and succinct – i could picture a baptism..white cloth floating on water..like words hovering above a page…hot..fevered..ready to be washed and expelled..maybe? ..isn’t everything made up.. and isn’t that great at times

Ha. Love the “bewildered evangelists” – and well they might be! I grinned at the poet making it all up and blaming the words. This is just wonderful, Elizabeth!

Some of the greatest poets were said to be a bit touched in the in the head…to be taken advantage of is never fun, perhaps that is where the bewildered evangelists come in?

Oh yes. Poets do take advantage of those who want to climb up. If we read poetry (like yours), then want to climb up, let us blame the poets.
Lovely tale Elizabeth. Aren’t we all a little touched in the head?

Your words certainly became unruly, and the flowers at least were high on something! Fun.
