The Call of the Other I Am

Do you ever catch a wisp of sound?
Not quite a whisper, but holding
the promise of one?

Or a fuzzy fragment of image? Blurred
with color and movement, and impression
that this is as important as food?

Something, someone is calling your name,
but who might it be? Trying to say “Hello”,
yet unsure if you will listen.

Does it frighten you? This sound that isn’t
a sound? Not grounded in everyday
language, or easily interpreted.

Or that blurred side glance, dancing out there
always at a slant? Does it raise goose bumps
on skin cause you know it comes

from within you?

Oh, this is interesting, Elizabeth! The voice of the inner self talking to us, demanding to be heard. Yes, I can identify!! That voice is persistent sometimes.

I like this because it underlines the confusion of the voices I hear. Whose are they, mine? God’s? The tv? Great response to prompt.

In a word….yes. The inner one, the one who knows. I love this, my friend.

A wonderful tight beautifully expounded – at first i thought..no, i’m not afraid of me – then i thought why do i need Alice..and who now continues the bad things that others began…to listen to what you really want..that hello which also says hope, help, belief, be and live is very scary but the better part waiting patiently to be heard – one day xo

  12. The inner self and the inner voice. It may even be a life-saving episode that bothers oneself to act and thwart some dangers
