A World of Difference
Wounded, she had bitten the green bullet
called change. Carefully weaving her steps,
picking a path around skeletons of past,
oddly wired to the present and possible.
Bowed head to already spilled tears, yet kept
a slivered-moon smile on her lips, a gift
she shared with rising number of digital friends.
Somewhere she had heard, that a mouth used
wisely, can make a world of difference.
Elizabeth Crawford 1/10/16
Notes: Loosely biographical. When young, I was an angry person. Never realizing that anger is a form of defense. Writing helped me find a different, better path. And the blogosphere went a long way in helping me find the individual I have become.
Image is a zentangle I colored with colored pencils and then put through the kaleidoscope app. Green is the color of growth and purple symbolizes personal power.
“Somewhere she had heard, that a mouth used wisely, can make a world of difference.” So much truth in that.

I love that silver moon-smile and the recognition of the process and effort it takes to makes changes. I think anger can be justified..perhaps writing/the blogosphere is a safe place in which we can share a little of that..and realise that we are not alone? which is indeed a wonderful thing..in some ways perhaps digital friends understand the real us..the part that doesn’t get up, dressed and paint on a false smile..not a moon smile..love the green and purple also 🙂

Yes, a mouth used wisely CAN indeed make a world of difference. A few political candidates could take note. Smiles!

That little smile is double edged: receptive–it gives us time to think; masking–it hides who we are.

we all wish for those wise voices and end up with vice instead… writing gives us time to think before putting sense to words.

Such a beautiful mandala!!!! Wow, “she had bitten the green bullet called change” is a fantastic line! As is “kept a slivered-moon smile on her lips”. Your closing lines are a kicker!!!!! So true. My digital friends actually resurrected me, I think. Smiles.

Change really can feel like a bullet, green or otherwise! I really enjoyed your notes at the end and digital friends can be lifesavers, can’t they? 🙂

Beyond the beauty of what you write, I really like how this is structured. The way your lines move, and break. Great attention to craft here.

First of all, the Zentangle is wonderful and the meanings of the colors are an excellent footnote. I have found much in the blogosphere that has been encouraging and people who were strangers have become friends and some, family. Much wisdom in the last line but I like the first stanza about change, picking one’s way around the skeletons of the past. Wonderful image.

“..picking a path around skeletons of past..” and “a mouth, used wisely, can make a world of difference…” My two favorite lines here. Well crafted with an excellent message. The drawing is quite beautiful….my computer screen shows beautiful shades of violet, purple and green. Would love to see this “in person” as the saying goes.
