Poetic Nightmare
Words swarm in forest of thoughts,
hang in the stormy air, humming
that low buzzing hum that means
they are up to something.
Soon become magical creatures
that thrive on passions better
left without clear definitions.
Leap and jump from highest branches,
while poet sleeps
unsuspecting.

That’s the story of my (poetic) life!

Your creatures are much kinder than mine, letting you sleep like that!

The poets are dreaming not sleeping! Words certainly do thrive better on passions! I wouldn’t write otherwise.

Gorgeous. Both words and image. Love the wires leading the eye to an unknown distance with hoped for pleasures.

I love the idea of words humming all around…maybe we gather them up in our dreams and soil them on paper in the morning…and i love the sleeping poet..faithful that they will always come..

Maybe if I could sleep more (I seem to be dogged by insomnia these days), the magical creatures would come my way more often!

They are up to something!!! Haha! Slippery fish, too, coming in the dreams. The nightmare is trying to net them by morning. Excellent writing.

So much takes place while the poet sleeps, I think. Hopefully the poet will remember when daybreak comes!

Those words, they are always up to something. Mine have been striving for silence all summer. Perhaps they’ve been feeding. This is wonderful word work, Elizabeth.

Sometimes you have all the words in your head and you just cant come up with anything! This is amazing!

Those words also have an irritating habit of waking me at four in the morning and insisting I write them down!
