Crystallized Moment

Without warning, she appears to dance
through natural crystalline caves of ice,
seemingly unaware of the sting of winter,
it’s blunt chill broken by her pixie-like antics.

In response, frozen walls seem to bend,
extend themselves to embrace her music.
No rival, violin adds voice to grinding stillness,
becoming both magician and creator.

Elizabeth Crawford 3/23/14

Notes: The wordlist had me stumped to the point that I thought I would probably pass on writing anything this week. But, my youngest daughter had posted on Facebook about how this particular musician had allowed her to find comfort from a long week of stress and discomfort. As I listened and watched the video, some of the words on the list began to dance and play. Only used half of them, but that’s better than nothing, or grinding silence.

Used the title of the song to reflex on the title here because the song actually crystallized the words for me. Musician is Lindsey Stirling. You can find more information about her here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindsey_Stirling

having just watched frozen (twice) in the last 24 hours…it made me think of that…
but i love the sound of the violin…so i can def believe it as magician and creator
glad your youngest daughter found that relief…

What a wonderful video. Loved the setting. Those caves of ice were spectacular and the music magical. Your poem worked with the crystalline ice well. You were a magician and creator with your words.

I’ve never been to an ice cave, but I love to think about them. A very beautiful piece of writing. I’ve given up on using all the words…I seem to be rebelling…just some….
