For The Sunday Whirl writing prompt: Wordle #126

An Old Old Story
And I found out a long time ago
What a woman can do to your soul
Ah, but she can’t take you any way
You don’t already know how to go
___Peaceful Easy Feelings by The Eagles
She’d been looking for days,
seeking that single sumptuous specimen
with which to satisfy her curiosity.
Thin crisp skin spread over and around
vibrant, tender meat. Sticky sweet juices
released with one vivacious bite.
With sassy manipulative grin, she offered
the apple to her male companion. He finished
it in a few short seconds.
Elizabeth Crawford 9/15/13
Notes: For whatever reason, some of the words reminded me of the Garden of Eden story. The song lyrics started running through my head the moment I began writing. I did not use all of the words, just the ones I needed.
Just enough too. It worked well.

This is a juicy poem. I always feel compelled to use all the words. Sometimes it makes a better poem not to use them all. I hope to feel less compelled in the future, after your great example this morning.

I loved the detail given to the feast..all that care and magic devoured in a second..but then look what sprang out of a moment of pleasure..life would never have happened if we’d not been expelled from that garden!

I love where the words took you today! Juicy indeed! And thanks for motivating me to leave out the words I don’t really need!

What is there about this old, old story that continues to fascinate generations of writers? Maybe it’s the kernel of truth that lies at its heart: We are all curious Eves and unsuspecting Adams, rolled into one. Oh, how complicated we humans are!

That’s all we ever need to express ourselves, Elizabeth. Just the words we needed to use. And you did that quite well, I must say. Love the Eagles and that song. Your poems is an extension of that affection! Thanks for sharing it!
