Grasshopper Dreams III

Casting aside any conscious connections,
dreamer travels around the globe. First,
to a clear running river that hums along
with grasshoppers and crickets singing
a clicking hymn to twilight.

A steep mountain path, where disturbed
dreamer steps with care because of his fear
of heights, yet never reaches peak. Instead,
comes upon a plateau that morphs into barren
desert with single slithering snake his only companion.

He wanders through dense forests seemingly striped
by shadows and sunlight. Then finds himself beneath
swaying palm trees, where slight breeze causes
leaves to click like humming insects, whose snicking
song finally wakens him.

Smiles while stretching to greet morning. Refueled,
refreshed, and relieved to recognize that his life
would be a much duller place without his roaming
imagination.

    Thanks for your visit –
I was remembering a hawk I had actually watched a few years ago, dinning on a critter in the neighbors yard. While I did startle on in my yard hidding in some weeds – The hawks never stay still or close liong enough for me to photograph them 🙂
