Miz Quickly’s Impromptu Poetry Day 23: Repeat After Me

Spring Meltdown
A cascade poem should flow downward,
rushing water leaping over stones and boulders.
Every third line, a ripple of repetition.
It begins, sun melting hard packed snow
creating a river which seeks lowest ground.
A cascade poem should flow downward.
Sweeping over, under, and through
any obstacle standing in its path,
rushing water leaping over stones and boulders.
Thirsty land awaits spring meltdown,
hears the rumble of its coming onslaught,
every third line, a ripple of repetition.

Love that you have both form and content represented here, Elizabeth…beautiful lines indeed!

Ahem…sorry I meant “you have both form and content represented here that reinforces and features the name and form itself.” Cut my thought short there. 🙂

Very cool, Elizabeth, on both levels.
You should do an ars poetica chapbook.

A gorgeous poem, Elizabeth! I am in awe. You have made the form look easy.

I just love every aspect of this poem – the cleverness of writing about a literal cascade in a literary cascade form. Beautiful.

Ditto,Ditto, and thrice ditto, you write a poem like an angel plays the harp, heaven sent!
and my foggy brain still has no link/identity with form! 😦 G

Seeking the lowest ground…a pillow for my head.
Now I see how we thought along the same lines.
Now if this is what we can do with our brains fried…imagine what we can do on a good day!
Thanks for your visit, and kind words.

I love how you did this, Elizabeth. Cascade poems, cascades of melting water….perfect comparison.

Elizabeth, this is awesome. What a wonderful poem in and of itself – and a teaching poem too – a great model. And, thank you for reminding me of the cascade prompt – I must attempt one now myself. Oh, and water – I love water poems.
