Nothing Normal Nowhere

Not To A Prompt

Nothing Normal Nowhere
(for Cham)

Still in Nowhere
doing nothing
looking for Normal

 Still Normal
going Nowhere
finding nothing

 Going Nowhere
looking for nothing
doing Normal

 Left Normal
found nothing

 Still Nowhere
left nothing
going Normal

 Doing Normal
looking Nowhere
Still nothing

Since you’ve been gone
nothing is normal,

Miss you Cham.

Elizabeth Crawford  4/14/13

Notes: Miz Quickly asked for a sonnet. I don’t do sonnets. WWP asked for first thoughts upon awakening. Went to sleep with hope on my pillow. Far too personal, wouldn’t couldn’t share, even if I was dared to do so. The first verse here, was written on a postcard sent form a town called Nowhere, and was a play on a joke we shared because we did find Normal, Illinois only to leave it. Have always wanted to play with the words she’d written. Today is the day.

The end caught me by surprise. I hadn’t expected that turn, Elizabeth.

    I guess we’ve all been through that…

    I attempted a silly sonnet…

I think the only rule I followed was the end rhyme. I actually read there are some specific rules. But I only use rules as guides.

Nice normal: I could empathise with the emotion, made into fun by the use of form. But please, Elizabeth, do try a sonnet – I’m sure yours would be gorgeous. Mine today was just taking the p..s

  5. Sherry Marr says:

I enjoyed the play on words and can sense the emotion hidden between and among the words. Loved your explanation at the end. So poignant, the “Miss you, Cham.”

  6. Irene says:

Hmmm…what is normal? There is such a thing as normality but normality isn’t normal. It does look normal though.

I love this form. Had one today over at the remix. There are so many possibilities of thought when given this. The ending is lovely.
