Living Lesson
Takes careful daily practice
perfecting habit created
to obtain semblance of clarity.
Awake early each morning,
slowing own breath for this venture
in learning how to listen.
Feel giddy tumult within
as it quietly begins:
whisper-soft step of words
come to ignite cleansing fire
meant to hold at bay, for another day,
bitter wave of forever cold silence.

Elizabeth, once again we have taken the same direction with the wordle. Yours is real poetry, whereas mine is prosaic!
And once again I say, no comparisons. We each follow some inner means to arrive at where we end up. How we get there is only half the fun and when we arrive, we can all celebrate, because we did it. I’m just glad and grateful, we old ladies have once again made it to the festivities. Besides, I really liked your list poem.

My smile, wry, grew as I read. I have been in some of these places, but it’s not easy to articulate and you have. I think that’s what I love about the wordles, that they give us a framework [albeit fluid] to start with. They allow things to happen to our poetry that might otherwise not. Thank you.

Margo, I think the wordles are a particular type of challenge to find our own singnature stroke (voice) while using someone else’s choice of words. Never an easy task, but as you said, it definitely can and does lead to many, sometimes wonderful surprises. The words this week, were chomping at the bit, even as I wrote out the list. Within fifteen minutes of doing so, I had used all twelve and had a basic structure and completed idea to work with. Really love it, when that happens. All that was left was to tweak it and make it mine. Thanks for the wry smile,

Very nice. I tried to do something similar. As drpkp said above, this reads like a meditative benediction, and I found that the words did that for me also.

So very good to see you here, Denise. I actually do feel that eagerness and expectancy when I reach for the words and they are there, even though I’ve been doing this for so long. Am presently reading my first morning pages from twenty years ago. And instead of being bored, that voice from the past has upped that giddy tumult to a never before higher and wider level.
