Hidden Promises

Scent of lavender
wafting up from warm
bubble bath,
encourages images
in her head:
a secret garden,
tiny violet fairy rings
beneath drooping branches
of tall old oaks.
Hidden, possibly forbidden
promises, she has yet
to make, break,
or keep.

I always enjoyed the book and even some of the different movies of “The Secret Garden” – This is what your poem reminded me of. The bringing back to life of that garden by the children…

    I went back in time…

Jules, I think we all have a secret garden within us. I’ve enjoyed mine for years,

Sherry, I’d be sad if you couldn’t. Thank you, my friend,

Promises ….. to make, break or keep. I like that.

We often imagine ourselves in different places and situations making promises for things that may or may not come. Thanks for stopping in, reading and commenting,
