For The Sunday Whirl: Wordle #77

One Day Road Trip
Unbearable charm of Autumn explodes
as Mother Nature sheaths
herself in piercing colors
from fevered red
to pumpkin orange,
and golden-yellow.
Afternoon breeze rustles leaves
and dry brittle cornstalks,
as earth’s rocky crust is bathed,
mended by swirling river waters.
In quiet moment, not far from home,
Snowy Egret seeks dinner in shallows,
while near-by willows watch,
and whisper of Her presence.

Notes: Sister and I took another day trip in search of Wisconsin color at its best. We found it and I just had to share. Did over three hundred miles (yes, this is only a very small element of what we saw). The rocks and river are the Dells of the Eau Claire, a county park just outside of Wausaw, Wisconsin. Within a mile from home, on the spur of the moment, turned into my favorite local park and found the Egret, symbol of fierce determination and self-reliance. Perfect end to a wonderful day.
Just delightful – I feel as though I can drift off to sleep – filled with these beautiful images and words into sweet dreams. Thank you 🙂
You are welcome and glad it had that affect. I crashed after getting home, but the colors filled my dreams.

Isn’t autumn such a beautiful season to enjoy all of the spectacular colour and the smell of the earth is so apparent. Your photographs are quite stunning and your snippets of poem interspersed add to it all beautifully.
Thank you Daydreamer, once I realized that the words would work, I spent the rest of my time trying to sort through the photos. A wonderful task,

Elizabeth, you have captured the beauty of autumn in your words and photographs. I have been so enamored of autumn this year, enjoying its intense beauty in a way I haven’t for a while. It seems you are enjoying it in the same way!
Mary, my sister’s name is Mary too! We did this for the first time last year. Last week, I was wondering if we would do it again, and the very next morning she called. Last year we went North, this year West, but Wisconsin is a big place, yes?

OOOHHHH…..so beautiful! I nearly forgot to read the words I was so excited to see pix from up north! I leave in 10 days for Illinois and Michigan…I hope I will still get to see some of the gorgeous colors of Autumn.
But…I only “nearly” forgot…so I did go back and read the words…and then I nearly forgot that it was a wordle!! 😉 Well done…and thank you!
Paula, 10 days might be a bit late. We noticed that some of the colors were already fading from their prime. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you though, it is so worth seeing and experiencing. Thanks for your generous words,
Elizabeth

Loved the willows watching and whispering. Striking photos of my favorite season, Elizabeth. I grew up in upstate New York (Binghamton, the foothills of the Adirondacks), and now here in Wisconsin I can honestly say, it’s just as beautiful. Your use of the Wordle between the photos was very effective. A lovely post all around. Peace, Amy
Thanks Amy, this is my favorite season and it holds so much wonder for me. Needed to share that and the words helped.
