Within The Mind

Images
mimic fireflies,

darting dance
through darkness,

becoming

rhythms in dreams,
and
roots to remembering.

All that and more. I enjoy how for me fireflies firmly root the beginning of summer here for me. 🙂

And for me they always make me think of dancing and movement lit up.

I love this, Elizabeth. The alliteration works to both dance where you want it to, and move softly into dreams to root where you need it to. I find that aspect of alliteration fascinating with such polar actions. I feel my self move with the reading of the poem.

Lol, Margo. I had what I thought was the final draft typed in here last night. But when I went to check it one last time before posting, I began to hear the alliteration and changed it at the last minute. I don’t think poems are ever truly finished, do you?

  3. I thought I had commented here this morning, but must have clicked over and forgotten to click back. I love this Elizabeth – love the idea of images and memories dancing….and being “roots to remembering”.

Thank you my friend. I wanted to try to grab a bit of each song and combine them. Closed my eyes and saw the fireflies and started thinking about thoughts and ideas that flit through our minds and become the roots of other things. So glad you enjoyed it,

This is beautiful, Elizabeth. Your use of alliteration is perfect. I keep meaning to do these prompts, but my weeks seem longer and longer, maybe next week.

Don’t worry about it Pamela, when you can, you will. I’m actually learning from these short pieces. What to leave in versus what can be left out. Sounds a bit like poker doesn’t it? Maybe that’s all poetry is, knowing when to hold or fold them, lol.
