For Sunday Whirl: Wordle #56

Reflection
Smiled as she thought
how they used to talk
of “the goddess in every
woman.” Knew with surety,
she was just an ordinary
old woman of little or no
significance, who periodically
danced with indigenous demons
pulling strings tied to past rituals
that once might have been
considered sacred.
Summits climbed were now
behind her, along with waving
of flags and elaborate noble
intentions. Content with books,
with narrow strip of green grass,
and playful visits of furred
and feathered friends, she knew
a certain sense of peace,
satisfaction.
That was enough.

That feeling of peace and content is what the poem makes me feel, as I read it. I love how diverse are the results of these words.

I like this sort of “enough.” I need no waving of flags or summits to climb either. I am content with books, grass (when I can find it!), and creatures great and small, just as the woman described in this exquisite poem. Thank you.

When we have satisfied ourselves that we have climbed enough mountains and we are content it is enough, then we are entitled to sit back on that little strip of grass and relax.
What a lovely write!

Find your inner goddess and you’ll find peace. Righto, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth, a lovely reflection. I, too, have a peaceful sense when I get to the end of your poem; it was enough. I love “content with books”.
