What Won’t Wait

November PAD Challenge Day 7: For today’s prompt, write a “what won’t wait” poem

What Won’t Wait

Immediate need to grow
butterfly feet, skin-on-skin
sensitivity to each breathed
in moment.

Hands flutter to grasp
what passes for reality,
but most often goes
unnoticed. Instead, hope
is placed in flick of tiny
wings to push storms
as far away from home
as possible.

  1. Mary says:

Yes, growing butterfly feet could indeed be helpful. Storms, of all kinds, be stilled!

  2. annell says:

Yes, hope and wings… I think that would do.

  3. Elizabeth, the last stanza says it all. Lovely.
