Learning Curve
I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy as long as I can paint.
Once believed, if I could write,
could fix all that was broken,
make things right, perhaps
even beautiful.
But, like Frida’s pain, damned
words learned how to swim
and I was left to struggle,
overwhelmed just trying
to keep up.
In gracious action, words tied
themselves to me, lent their
buoyancy, allowing me to float
within their midst.
Have come to know there
is certain strength, even beauty
in brokenness.

Yes, there is, Elizabeth, the cracks are where the light comes in, as Cohen said…….give me something weathered and battered with a story to tell, any day, instead of a bright unwrinkled shiny thing that has yet to live its history and doesnt know what it is yet. I loved this read this morning.
Thanks Sherry, most of the stories are hidden in those broken places. Would deeply agree with you and Cohen.

Yes, Elizabeth, there is beauty in brokenness. I think we have to know the brokenness in order to know strength. We have to embrace both. You do!
Thanks Mary, I think by our age, we know that it would be foolish to believe otherwise.

Elizabeth, I love this as well as I love the quotes by Frida. Very beautiful poem.
Pamela
Pamela, thanks and I stumbled over the quotes and they seemed to go together for me.
