Bear Seasons

Bear sleeps through winter
dreaming of questions
only summer may answer.
All those answers
she feeds on in full
summer light:

fresh berries in brambles;
moist slugs under
overturned stones;
sweet honey hanging in combs

will nurture the questions
of next winter’s night.
